About Client: NSW State Emergency Service (SES) is a volunteer-based organisation, operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week with branches Australian wide dedicated to helping the local community in times of need. In order to operate more efficiently, NSW SES Southern Highlands Region Headquarters was looking to invest in a meeting room solution that was both intuitive to use to accommodate all the different skills sets of its volunteers, platform independent and with a proven reliability.

Primarily assisting in flood and storm emergencies, in addition to managing their own network of volunteers, SES is also required to co-ordinate their efforts in rescue scenarios with state organisations such as NSW Police Force, NSW Rural Fire Service and Fire and Rescue NSW. For this reason whatever solution they implemented also would need to be interactive to allow them to collaborate in real-time with both volunteers and other organisations, annotate over documents such as would be needed to map out search areas, and access resources such as weather reports and schedules.

The Result: NSW SES Southern Highlands Region Headquarters chose CommBox Interactive Touchscreens as their meeting room solution as it ticked all the boxes they required. As a premium offering, CommBox uses only the highest-grade components and with a lifespan of 17 years if used 8hrs a day, 7 days a week, CommBox Touchscreens have a proven track record for reliability. The toughened anti-glare glass also meant the screens were robust enough to handle the continuous traffic of users and that whether they were being used at the crack of dawn or the middle of the night, there would be no impact to the quality of the image.

Additionally, with the touch functionality working as an extension of you mouse and keyboard, there was almost no learning curve for NSW SES volunteers. They could simply turn the CommBox Touchscreens on and start interacting. CommBox Touchscreens collaborative ability, in particular, was a selling point, as it allowed NSW SES to co-ordinate their efforts seamlessly using video conferencing and all the functionality they might have on a computer but on a large-scale touchscreen.
